The NHS offers a unique platform to conduct world-leading health research through the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR). The NIHR Clinical Research Facilities (CRFs) are dedicated clinical areas that enable early translational, experimental medicine, and early phase clinical trials to be carried out in a safe environment.
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust have successfully achieved the prestigious NIHR Clinical Research Facility status following confirmation of a 5 years award in 2017. The CRF award compliments the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre award also achieved in the year 2016-17.
Together with 22 other NIHR CRFs, Nottingham is now part of the UKCRF Network which provides best practice guidance and tools to ensure the delivery of research to the highest standard.
The Network celebrates developments and achievements through exciting annual conferences; the NIHR Nottingham Clinical Research Facility and Visit Nottinghamshire are very proud to announce that they have been successful in securing the UKCRF Network Annual Event in 2019. The event will see representatives from the NHS, academia, industry and external partners enjoying talks and presentations. Delegates will also take part in workshops and interactive meetings on the subject of “Curing the incurable: an interdisciplinary approach to research”. The organisers are expecting to welcome between 350-400 delegates to Nottingham over a period of two days. The Conference will take place at the De Vere East Midland Conference Centre and Orchard Hotel on the 27th and 28th of June 2019.
It will be an exciting opportunity to showcase exciting research projects currently conducted in Nottingham, and a celebration which will highlight the importance of interdisciplinary working across various disciplines and establishments for the benefit of the patients, carers and families.
